On Monday November 16th SACC Georgia and Emory University, in co-operation with the Office of Science and Technology at the Embassy of Sweden, will be hosting a luncheon with a presentation of Lars Leijonborg, Swedish Minister for Higher Education and Research.
 
Investment in research and development is considered to be a key element for national competitiveness, and Sweden invests most per capita in research and development among the OECD countries. The Minister has just presented to the parliament Sweden's new Research and Innovation bill , which is the four year strategy and budget for R&D and it describes how Sweden plans to maintain its competitive edge and position at the forefront in the era of knowledge and globalization.

 

 

Directions to Emory:

From Interstate 20 East

Take exit 60-B, the Moreland Avenue North exit. Turn right on Moreland and follow it approximately 3 miles. Moreland will change to Briarcliff Road once it crosses Ponce de Leon Avenue. Continue straight on Briarcliff approximately 2 miles to North Decatur Road. Turn right and follow North Decatur one mile to the Oxford Road intersection.

From Interstate 20 West
Take exit 60-B, the Moreland Avenue North exit. Turn right on Moreland and follow it approximately 3 miles. Moreland will change to Briarcliff Road once it crosses Ponce de Leon Avenue. Continue straight on Briarcliff approximately 2 miles to North Decatur Road. Turn right and follow North Decatur one mile to the Oxford Road intersection. Turn a hard left onto Oxford Road. At next right, turn right onto campus. After the first and almost immediate stop sign, continue straight at the next stop sign. The Peavine Visitor Parking Lot is on your left.

From Interstate 75 North or South
Take exit 248-C, the Freedom Parkway exit. Cross Boulevard; continue on Freedom Parkway; veer left at split; continue until it ends at Ponce de Leon Avenue; then turn right. Off Ponce, turn left on Briarcliff Road. Go approximately 2 miles to North Decatur Road. Turn right and follow North Decatur Road one mile to the Oxford Road intersection.

From Interstate 85 North and Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport
The airport is located in the southwest section of the city, approximately 25 minutes from the Emory University campus. Visitors driving from the airport should take I-85 North. To Emory from Interstate 85 North, take exit 248-C, the Freedom Parkway exit. Cross Boulevard; continue on Freedom Parkway; veer left at split; continue until it ends at Ponce de Leon Avenue; then turn right. Off Ponce, turn left on Briarcliff Road. Go approximately 2 miles to North Decatur Road. Turn right and follow North Decatur Road one mile to the Oxford Road intersection.

From Interstate 85 South
Take exit 91, the Clairmont Road exit. Turn left (east) on Clairmont and follow it approximately 3 miles to North Decatur Road. Turn right and follow North Decatur approximately one mile to the Emory campus. Some visitor parking lots are accessed by turning left onto Clifton Road, others by continuing down North Decatur Road to Oxford Road, where you will see the gates to the university on your right, at the intersection of North Decatur and Oxford roads.

Public Transportation - MARTA
Atlanta's mass transit system is MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority). MARTA operates a coordinated system of bus and train lines for access to all of Atlanta. Weekly and monthly passes are available, good for unlimited rides.

The Emory campus is accessible from the Lindbergh MARTA station and from the Inman Park station via the #6-Emory bus, or from the Arts Center station and the Avondale station on the #36-North Decatur bus. Also, the #245 "Blue Flyer" Kensington/Emory express bus serves Emory from the Lindberg and Kensington stations.

To Peavine Visitor Parking Lot
Directions from westbound on North Decatur Road Make a soft right turn onto Oxford Road. At next right, turn right onto campus. After the first and almost immediate stop sign, continue straight at the next stop sign. The parking lot is on your left.

Directions from Clifton Road and Asbury Ciricle
Turn onto Asbury Circle and continue through the first stop sign past the old train depot (Dooley's Den) on your right. Continue straight at the second stop sign onto Eagle Row. Continue through two more stop signs and pass the main parking deck on your right. Visitor Parking is in a ground-level lot on your right before.
